he St. Francis Chapel at the Mission Inn has been a popular wedding site for hundreds of couples since its completion in 1931. A wedding register that couples once signed is now part of the Mission Inn Museum's collections. At one time, some of the couples also signed an airplane propeller. Many of those married at the Inn were in the military, stationed at March Field east of Riverside.

Celebrities, including actress Bette Davis, were also married here. On November 30, 1945, Davis (born Ruth Elizabeth Davis on April 5, 1908) married William Grant Sherry in the St. Francis Chapel. The couple first met at a home--Villa Rockledge--in Laguna Beach, California, built by Frank Miller, owner of the Mission Inn.
